DescriptionTucked away on a thriving dairy farm in the Southern Drakensberg, Glenlea Log Cabin offers you the privacy and peace you´ve been looking for. From your wooden deck you can look out over the beautiful Glenlea Dam to Hodgeson´s Peaks in the distance. This is the ideal retreat for the fly-fisherman and bird watcher. The cabin is perched about 10m from the water’s edge. It is ideal as a family getaway with swings for the littlies and a marvellous wooden jetty which is perfect for swimming and sundowners! It´s also very safe for children- they can explore the surrounding farm area without fear of traffic and intruders! Braai facilities are available and firewood is provided during winter. Honeymooners and anniversaries are treated with "something special". Glenlea, a 12ha trout-stocked private dam, is available for flyfishing only. Catch and release is encouraged but a bag limit of one fish per rod is allowed. A rowing boat is available and float tubes/kick boats are permitted.Other activities include mountain biking, bird watching, horse riding nearby, walking, watching the milking and visiting the calves. The following wildlife has been spotted from the cabin: otters, reedbuck, genet, and waterfowl including large flocks of crested crane. Trips up the Sani Pass can be arranged with qualified tour operators. THE CABIN Glenlea Log Cabin offers self-catering acommodation for 8 people. DirectionsFrom the N3 between Hilton and Howick, take the R617 (exit 99) towards Boston/Underberg. Drive through Boston and Bulwer. 28km after Bulwer, turn right onto the D4. The farm gate to the cabin is 2,5km along this road but please come and collect the keys from our house which is 5oom further on the D4. Follow the signs to the green-roofed stone house. |
